Both in aroma and flavor, fresh citrus, apple and lychee notes dominate. The moderately long sip is accompanied by lively, broad-flowing acids. We confidently offer this fruity, dry, thirst-quenching wine as an aperitif.

It makes an excellent aperitif when well chilled; also a great companion to poultry, fish dishes and salads.

2023

In 2023, flowering occurred at the usual time, but it was prolonged. Following the previous vintages, this year nature partially compensated for the lack of rainfall, as significant amounts fell during spring and summer. The year posed many challenges from a plant protection perspective, but we acted in a timely manner, ensuring the health of our vineyards. From the second half of August onwards, there was genuinely summer-like weather, which practically persisted throughout the entire harvest. Thanks to this, the grapes reached their developmental stages at the average time. The rain-free, warm days positively influenced both the ripening of the grapes and the organization of the harvest. We harvested beautiful, ripe grapes with exceptionally good internal qualities, resulting in wines with refreshing acidity and fruity flavors and aromas. For certain varieties, the vintage suggests good aging potential as well.

WINE REGION: Villány Wine Region

GRAPE VARIETIES

51% Olaszrizling, 44% Rajnairizling, 5% Chardonnay

VINIFICATION-MATURATION

Each variety was treated independently, separately fermented in tanks at 16 to 20°C and then the two wines were blended. No malolactic fermentation was performed, thus the wine retains its natural acids. A wine made with the reductive approach; this (oxygen-isolated) process preserves the fresh and perfumy fruitiness.

A true rosé by nature. The lively fruitiness of strawberries and lime are reminiscent both in the bouquet and taste. The freshness and vividness are supported by the powerful and sharp acidity, asking for another sip each time. On the label: one of the characters from the ancient Villány legend, the saviour Cock shouting out that the sun has risen.

As an aperitif well-chilled and as a pair of light meals (salads and roasted poultry).

GRAPE VARIETIES: 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Merlot

VINIFICATION-MATURATION
The grapes harvested from the vineyards designed for the rosé are pressed without fermentation with the grape skins. Fermentation and maturation are performed in cooled tanks (at 16 and 20°C) to preserve natural carbon dioxide in the wine, providing a finer and morepleasantsensation of acidity than artificially added CO₂. Varieties are finally blended before bottling.

MACSKA Portugieser 2023

In the Villany wine region, portugieser is a variety that can be found in every cellar. In the ‘Legend of the devil-plowed hill’ it is represented by the cat. We couldn’t live everyday life without it. Athirst-quenchingly fruity, nice, and easygoing wine that ‘purrs’ and flatters–a wine that feels good to drink every day! The varietal-specific red berries are characterizing this wine both on the nose and on the palate. Its tannins are soft and velvety.

It is a good match with lighter Hungarian dishes, fish for example, and Italian starters and pastas.

The Herka of vintage 2023 has remained fresh and cheeky. The nose and palate are characterised by notes of pineapple and pear, accompanied by solid barrel spices. Harmonious acids, creamy, long sip. Seriousand light at the same time, which is an interesting combination.

Our chardonnay is round, fresh and ethereal, like the character it is named after. In the ancient legend of Villány HЁRKA is the beautiful maiden, whom the devil couldn’t resist.

It goes well with creamy sauces and soups, such as vegetable cream soup or béchamel, white meat and fish or grilled vegetables.

One-third of the wine was matured in barrels. Barrel aging: in 225-liter Hungarian oak barrels for 4 months. The lees were stirred multiple times(applying the so-called batonnage technique)thus supporting the development of a more full-bodied, creamy, and flavor-rich character. Then the two wines were blended.

2021

The unusually cool spring of the 2021 vintage was followed by abundant summer sunshine. This brought in the backwardness of grape development, so harvest dates evoked “oldtimes”. The warm summer and the moderate rainfall allowed the formation of pleasant aromas. The cooler October weather following sunny September has contributed to the development of more vibrant acids, which will result in vibrant, vibrant wines from this vintage

Our pearly wine is named after the 14th letter of the Greek alphabet. It is the sound you hear, when you open up a bottle of refreshing KSZI and the pearling bubbles come to the surface. This pearly wine is a delicate shade, a“ballerina”, amongst the full-bodied red wines of Villany. Playful, ethereal, lively, intensive and elegant. 100% Pinot noir gives lively fruitiness, elegance and depth to the sip. From the colour to the fragrance, it is an elegant, ethereal, real ‘pink character’. On the palateit is full and juicy with lively fruitiness of exotic fruits, strawberry and marshmallow & ends with a nice tart pink grapefruit lingering.

Serve chilled as an aperitif, with light starters(salads or poultry roasts)

GRAPE VARIETIES: 100% Pinot Noir

VINIFICATION-MATURATION

Made from the fine must (meaning without pressing) of pinot noir. The fine must, which flows out by itself, is clearer and better quality; it is the “soul of the grape”.Fermentation was done in cooled stainless steel tanks (on 15°C). As a result we got alight, bright rosé base wine, to which we added carbon dioxide (2,5 g/l) in several steps during the bottling to achieve a light, gentle bubbling. Pearly wine is similar to sparkling wine, but it contains less carbon dioxide.

ALCOHOL: 11,78%

CONSUME AT: Very well chilled, at 4-5˚C
